This week we continue rehearsals on Rum in the Gravy Boat, an autobiographical performance piece about the lived experience of growing up with a parent who is addicted to alcohol.
There is very little research on what it is like for children to grow up with an alcoholic parent and this performance project will seek to address this. The show will then be toured and used as the basis to run workshops about alcohol addiction and childhood trauma. By touring with the piece and running workshops, the public will be given the chance to engage with ideas about recovery, resilience and the effect of the past on current lives.
The performance is devised and performed by Artistic Director Leigh Johnstone and Directed by Executive Director Alison Gill. We will be performing a small scratch of the material so far at Proteus Creation Space, Basingstoke on Friday 26th August at 4:00pm. Entry is FREE.
