Leigh Johnstone

Fluid Motion Theatre Company has entered into a collaboration with The University of Southampton and The University of Winchester to create an autobiographical performance piece about the lived experience of growing up with a parent who is addicted to alcohol. There is very little research on what it is like for children to grow up with an alcoholic parent and this project will seek to address this. The performance will then be toured and used as the basis to run workshops about alcohol addiction and childhood trauma. By touring with the piece and running workshops, the public will be given the chance to engage with ideas about recovery, resilience and the effect of the past on current lives.

I loved all the different techniques used to tell the story. The order of events reflected the way a memory might come back to you in the wrong order or out of the blue, triggered by a sense. I'm hooked.

It's fantastic work. I would love to see it all!

I thought it was a really powerful piece. It was easy to follow without giving too much away. It was great.

The continual movement and rearrangement left me with an unsettled feeling, which was part of the performances power.
