Job - Arts Consultant

Fluid Motion Theatre Company is seeking an experienced arts consultant to work with the directors on an Arts Council England funded development project. The consultant will be responsible for undergoing a review of the organisation, helping to strengthen the artistic vision and future sustainability of the company. The consultant will be responsible for updating the three year business plan which will include a new impact assessment and set of artistic principles. The consultant will also explore financial sustainability of the organisation and lay the foundations for phase two of the development project, led by a fundraiser. 

The candidate will have a strong track record of arts consultancy and knowledge of the UK theatre sector. The consultant will have a good understanding of strategic planning and experience of writing and updating business plans. 

Expected deliverables by the consultant:

Updated business plan

  • Work alongside the directors as they apply and move to Registered Charity status and update the existing business plan to reflect this change. This will include developing and strengthening our artistic vision and mission and creating an impact assessment. 


Understand the work Fluid Motion creates and why

  • Work with the Artistic Director to undertake an artistic audit, re-establishing what work we make, who we make work for and why. Develop a set of artistic principles against which all potential new projects are scored to ensure all of our work is relevant and high quality. 


Improve sustainability

  • Within the updated business plan, create an outline for ways in which to develop future financial sustainability. This outline will then be used and implemented by the fundraiser in phase two of this project.

Terms and Conditions

Contract Term: The post will commence on Monday 6th July 2020 with all project deliverables completed by Friday 23rd October 2020 at the latest. Fluid Motion is committed to flexible working and in this current climate we feel it is important that this job role works around individual circumstances. That is why we are not setting specific hours or days of work. We only ask that the successful candidate can be available during some normal office hours, so that they coincide with Fluid Motion staff and are available for weekly check ins. 

Place of work: Due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic this role will be undertaken remotely, however attendance at meetings (only if safe and able to do so) may be required as and when is necessary.

Fee: £8.000 fixed fee (inclusive of tax, travel, accommodation (if required) and other direct expenses.)
